The territory belonging to the valley Val di Nievole lies between the towns of Pistoia and Lucca, near important tourist centres, like Montecatini Terme, renown for its thermal baths, Monsummano Terme, with its natural caves, Pescia with its flower market and Uzzano.
The Val di Nievole is divided into two areas: the first one characterized by green and flourishing warm plains, crossed by rivers like Nievole, and the second one by hills and charming medieval castles.
Near Pescia you can visit Villa Garzoni, surrounded by the most famous Italian garden, and the town Collodi, birthplace of the writer Carlo Lorenzetti, author of Pinocchio, where you can see a small “Toyland” dedicated to all the children.
Not far from Chiesina Uzzanese you’ll find the Sibolla lake, a very interesting place because of the curious flowers and animals living by the lake.
This small area of Tuscany is a land of craftsmen who produce straw hats (by Lamporecchio), marble, stone and travertine ornaments in Pieve a Nievole, shoes and leather goods in Monsummano Terme and Larciano. Noteworthy wines are produced in this area, among them: the white wine Vin Santo and the red wine Montalbano.
Toscana Viva is the tourist portal of the Viaggiare Web network dedicated to Tuscany. It was founded in 2005 and today has over 700 pages in 2 languages.
